To one breeder to another

rolleyes.gif I'm starting this thread for breeders who have a high level of experience in dog breeding. A forum tell all. No doubt, the fleas from other Chihuahua talk forums will find mylittlechi talk forum, fleas are just like that. They are the bad mouth of America, and although they don't do much to add to the hard work it takes to nurture and raise puppies they are the first ones to talk $hit. So, to all you pet shop people who think you know it all, don't make it hard for us who do. You are welcome to join in on the reading of this thread though, in hopes that you may do more then just the talk.

I would like to share a letter with you that I sent to an inspiring Ori-pei breeder. Although my Chihuahuas are the love of my life, and although I had been breeding my sweet little darlings for more than 30 years, I did dabble in the creation of my own line of the Ori-Pei. They say that there isn't anything new under the sun and in the dog world this is very true. All the breeds of canine that we know and love today, including our beloved chihuahua got it's start the same way. The more breeders open up, instead of hiding in the shadow's the more people can understand breed creation and stop their ruthless attacks on breeders that share a common bond. We choose to labor....and I do mean labor in love for the benefit for all to enjoy.

The letter I sent to a Ori pei breeder out in Missouri:
Hello, I just would like to know how long you have been breeding Oriental Shar-pei's ? And have you set the type in your lines, or do you keep crossing the pug to Shar-pei. Some of the information on the site I found you on is a little off about the breed. I should know because I was one of the early breeders that helped pioneer the breed. We were Shar- pei breeders that couldn't deal with all the health problems the shar-pei came to inherit with all the cross breeding that went on in the early days when they first came into the country in 1971, a genetic time bomb if you will. The cross to the pug was kept on the hush hush for some time and they were called mini-pei's. This was done to correct the eye problems that the Shar-pei were having causing then to go blind. I myself choose to go the same route that the people who founded the Shar-pei club of America went, and with their help I founded, and registered the Oriental Shar-pei club of America Inc. in Delaware. I'm not sure if I hold the rights to the name still, or if it's in a dead file somewhere in a dark room. In any case I had a blast creating my little Ori-pei's, all 75+puppies before I said I had enough. My babies were breeding true to kind, I was up to my 6th generation and they were in the toy size group, people thought they were 4 month old Sar-pei puppies, when they were actually up in years. I had so much hope for future of this unique little dog, it's does my heart good to see that there are people still breeding the Ori-pei who might take them to the top.......AKC someday!

P.S. If there is anything that I can help you with, feel free to ask. Even signing off from the mother club if I still hold the rights. If you would like I will send you some pictures of past pei's, sadly I lost track of my lines, but I know that somewhere out there their offspring is in the world. Take Care, Marlene

Now that is how a honest dog breeder with a good reputation treats another breeder......Dog breeding 101...are you paying attention pet shop people?
And you fleas know who you are.rolleyes.gif  The kind of flea that gets friendly with a breeder and hangs out day after day in the kennel just to sucker the blood out of a breeder for a freebie puppy. A breeder's S.O.S. puppy that gets begged for with the promise to spay/neuter only to find that the lovely little flea went ahead and bread the little genetic time bomb for profit. rolleyes.gif

Sorry if I sound a little steamed. It's maybe from the fact that I had signed up on one of the talk forum's with all good intentions. I posted my little story that I had to tell....and wow, the fleas came out to get me. Bad mouthing me like all get out. Now, I'll tell you in all the years that I have been breeding dogs, I have never had a bad mouth out there. But boy after that experience I sure can synthesize with some of my breeder friends that have had to deal with such fleas. And that is all I'm going say on that matter because those type of people are no body's trying to be somebody. Solution to it all? I just started my very own talk forum. Like it so far?.....Don't get mad, get even. So bring it on fleas of the world. I have plenty of Zodiac IGR spray..... I'm ready for ya, you little nippersweirdface
